Gear Review- Voile V8 Skis

V8 Top_2

The boys at Voile claim that this may be their “best ski yet” and they’ve had a lot of winners over the years…The fat 146 mm tip on the V-8 tapers to a 115 waist before blending to a 126 tail in the 186cm length. The big tip offers plenty of floatation in the softer stuff, and the early-rise profile allows for an easy trail breaking on the way up. Camber is provided underfoot, and when you step on the gas, the V-8 hits on all cylinders for plenty of get-up-and-go. Voile has always dedicated themselves to creating lightweight gear for backcountry travel, and the V-8 is no exception. Weighing in at 7lbs 12 oz in the 186 length, this ski is light enough for a full day in the backcountry, but the cut provides a fantastic sliding experience inbounds as well. The shortened running length gives it plenty of snap for quick turns and will be a delight on spring corn, or firmer conditions. It’s another winner from Voile, a quiver of one, and made right here in SLC. Available in 4 lengths. $625 www.voile.com
